Piedmont means ” foot of the Mountain” which describes the area of NW Italy where these famous Hazelnuts grow. This is a region of Barolo and Barbera grapes and of course truffles that grow in the roots of Hazelnut trees. These hazelnuts are recognised for there shape and flavour and especially crunchy texture and are a protected product , native to this region.( DOP). They are processed in a specially built facility that peels and then roasts them by infrared rays, then they are crushed to make paste. There are no additives or extra flavourings of any kind. This pure crushed Piedmont Hazelnut paste has no sugar, so can be used in almost any dish, anything you may want to add pure hazelnut flavour to, sweet or savour . Use in Icecreams and semi freddos add to cream or custard, add to chocolate or chocolate or butter ganaches for cakes. Add to breads or cake batters, brownies, frangipane or stuffings, pasta fillings or any other thing your imagination will allow.
