Cantina Frentana- Rubesto Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOC 2015

Grape Variety is Montepulciano 100%.

Montepulciano grapes are grown widely in Central Italy. Abruzzo is most recognised but they are also grown in Molise and Marche. The grapes produce an easy drinking wine that is perfect with food due to the low tanins and gentile acidity. The juice is also used widely in blends produced in this area.

The “Riserva” must spend a minimum of 3 months on oak to carry the Riserva Montepulciano d’Abruzzo” name. This one is well worth a try

The grapes come from selected vineyards that are under exposed plateau or in quadrants from west to south, on clay soils with good cobblestone drainage. After de-stemming, the juice is fermented on the skins for 10-15 days, then aged in oak barrels for at least 12 months and in bottles another six months.
The finished wine is an
intense ruby red color, with aging it appears garnet it’s nose is remarkably complex, with aromas of black cherry, violet, vanilla and spicy notes.
